Professional Training in Germany and Worldwide

Be prepared - better safe than sorry
Duty of Care - gesetzliche Fürsorgepflicht für Entsender.

Preparing and supporting your employees for overseas travel is not just good practice—it’s your legal responsibility. Companies are required by law to protect the lives and health of their teams, especially when working or traveling in high-risk regions. This means ensuring your staff are well-prepared and supported throughout their journeys.

Krisenwerk is here to help with practical, results-driven training. Our courses highlight real risks and make them visible and tangible for everyone involved. We build confidence and competence, so your team feels secure and ready—no matter where their work takes them. Explore the training options below to see how we help you strengthen your Duty of Care, boosting safety, resilience, and trust. In addition to our HEAT (Hostile Environment Awareness Training) and travel security programs, we offer at least one-day courses in First Aid under difficult conditions (also known as HEFAT). We also provide at least one-day training on gender-based violence in international cooperation. Expert lectures round out our services, either as standalone events or as supplements to our training programs. We work closely with your organization to customize every training to your specific needs.

Whoever you are, wherever you come from, whatever your personal views or identity—you are always welcome with us. Find out more in the sections below.

Are you or your team heading into challenging or crisis regions? Our Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) equips you with the confidence, skills, and resilience you need for safe and successful missions.
What we offer:
HEAT prepares you thoroughly for travel and work in high-risk areas. Through realistic simulations, participants experience their personal limits and learn essential skills for critical situations—all within a protected environment where safety comes first.
Key training elements:
  • Realistic simulations: Use of training vehicles, costumes, exercise weapons, and pyrotechnics—always under strict safety protocols.
  • Interdisciplinary team: Up to four experienced trainers, including at least one expert for gender-related perspectives.
  • First Aid in focus: An experienced paramedic leads an integrated 8-hour Hostile Environment First Aid Training (HEFAT).
  • Voluntary participation: Stress simulations are optional and can be paused or stopped at any time—your well-being is our priority.
Training goals:
  • Increase your chances of survival through practical, hands-on exercises.
  • Develop skills in risk assessment, emergency planning, and self-protection.
  • Learn to handle critical situations such as accidents, hostage incidents, or violent confrontations.
Who is this for?
Civilians such as NGO staff, journalists, or business travelers working in crisis regions. No weapons training is included—our focus is on safety, awareness, and resilience.
Duration and customization:
HEAT/HEFAT courses last 3 to 5 days and can be tailored to your specific needs.

When seconds count and professional help is out of reach, standard first aid training often falls short. Our First Aid Under Challenging Conditions—also known as Hostile Environment First Aid Training (HEFAT)—goes far beyond the basics.
Led by experienced first aid trainers with years of hands-on experience in war zones and crisis regions, this training prepares you for the toughest situations imaginable. Imagine treating gunshot wounds, stab injuries, or traumatic accidents after a terrorist attack—when you’re the only help available. This is not your typical first aid course.
Here’s what sets us apart:
  • Real-life scenarios: You’ll practice skills designed for the field, where medical support is uncertain or unavailable.
  • Practical, hands-on approach: Our methods are raw and realistic, focusing on what actually works when resources are limited.
  • Integrated or standalone: HEFAT is a core part of our 3- to 5-day training programs, but can also be booked as a dedicated, at least one-day course.
  • Stressful simulations: Our scenarios are as close to reality as possible, intentionally creating genuine stress to help you learn how to act under pressure.
Warning:
These simulations are intense and can trigger real stress—but that’s exactly what prepares you for the real thing.
